With the current pandemic, it’s important to check if cover for COVID is included, as many airlines, travel companies and even countries are asking travellers to have adequate travel insurance in place. Should you need treatment when overseas, a European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) or similar may not provide the cover in state hospitals for COVID. You should also ensure that pre-trip cover is included should you need to cancel your holiday as a direct result of COVID.
Whilst hopefully you won’t have to make a claim, travel insurance is there to protect you in the event that something goes wrong – it can cover you for medical costs should you need treatment abroad, if your flights are cancelled or delayed, and it can provide some compensation if your possessions are stolen. CLC World strongly recommends that you have the appropriate travel insurance in place for your forthcoming trip(s).
Family, Couples or Single Person Policies, Single or Annual Multi Trip Polices along with many other specialist covers such as those specific to timeshare accommodation, cruise cover and extra cover for your gadgets, such as mobile phones, tablets and Kindles.
Our advice is to search around for the right policy for your own needs, and to have the policy in place as soon as you book your holiday in order to cover certain eventualities pre-trip as well.
If you already have travel insurance, contact your insurer if you have any questions. If not, this is what to consider when choosing travel insurance for you or your family. www.gov.uk/guidance/foreign-travel-insurance
