La Sonrisa de los Niños

La Sonrisa de los Niños is a charitable organisation that helps children who live in the contaminated area of Belarus. 30 years have passed since the catastrophic nuclear accident took place in Chernobyl. The massive amount of radioactive materials that were spread across the area of Belarus and neighbouring Ukraine has resulted in long-term health problems for those living there. According to the World Health Organisation (WHO), spending 2 months every year outside of the area could increase their life-span by between 12 and 18 months.

15 youngsters were staying in the Malaga province between 27 June and 29 August and visited Club La Costa World for a day of fun and games with Team Marina. Water polo, table tennis and target practice were just some of the activities on the agenda. La Sonrisa´s organiser, Maria Almudena Armentia Manjon, was full of praise for the “perfect” day had by the children, “I can assure it will be unforgettable for the children.”
