If there is a common theme running through CLC World’s guest reviews, it’s praise for our friendly resort staff who go out of their way to make your holiday the best one ever. While part of that is the fact that English is widely spoken at all of CLC World’s resorts to make you feel at home, it’s always handy to arrive prepared with a few phrases of the local lingo. After all, part of the joy of going overseas for many people is discovering hidden hangouts and authentic gems, which is where you are most likely to come across locals who don’t speak much English. Not only are they likely to appreciate the effort you’ve gone to, but there’s always that thrill when you’re able to converse – no matter how simply – in another language. So, if you’re coming to visit us at one of our resorts on the Costa del Sol, what are the key words to know for your Spanish holiday?
Meet the Spanish Language
The first thing to know is that the Spanish language shares the alphabet with the English language, with the addition of one letter, the ñ for example in mañana (tomorrow) or niño (boy).
There are various dialects spoken in Spain (most famously Catalan in and around Barcelona), but when we talk of the Spanish language, we are referring to Castilian.
