CLC World resorts & Hotels

Nestled on the coast of southern Spain, Málaga is a beautiful, bustling beach-side metropolis of the kind which earns the Costa del Sol its reputation as a must-visit destination for extended shopping breaks and city escapism. If you’ve booked a holiday to one of CLC World’s Costa del Sol luxury resorts, such as CLC Santa Cruz Signature Suites, we’d advise you to jet off with your roomiest suitcase in tow — but pack sparingly for your trip, as by the time your holiday comes to an end you’re sure to be carrying a big bounty of designer treasure.

While you’ll find all the expected high street mainstays in the centre of the city, what you may not know is that Málaga offers a superb designer shopping experience to match the selection of luxury resorts found along the Costa del Sol. In nearby Puerto Banús, 30 km from CLC’s Santa Cruz Signature Suites, you’ll find a selection of designer giants and sought after labels including Dolce &- Gabbana, Bulgari, Jimmy Choo and other top names. For thrifty shoppers on the hunt for luxury, you’ll also find a number of wonderful designer outlet stores.

One-off finds and unique buys

What really brings the seriously fashion-conscious to Málaga, however, is the variety and quality of its independent designer boutiques for shoes, accessories, jewellery and apparel, which are truly in a league of their own. To discover the best of these, you’ll want to head in the direction of the newly renovated port (where you can admire the sea view with some refreshments after your thirst for designer shopping has been adequately quenched!). Along Calle Marqués de Larios, you’ll find a number of attractive boutiques offering luxury, hand-crafted leather shoes and accessories made locally in Spain and the Balearics.

When it comes to Spanish design, travellers who are hungry for something unique and striking must visit Gemma Melé’s fashion house. This designer has won countless awards for her sensational creations and has been part of some very exciting catwalk collaborations in recent years. Intropia, located in Málaga’s delightful old town, is also perfect for browsing a range of pieces by respected Spanish designers in one place. Just a short distance away, you’ll also find Athénée — another independent boutique which is very popular amongst the most style-conscious locals.

Also not to be missed is the Ángel Palazuelos Alta Costura in Málaga’s city centre. This haute couture house belonging to (of course) the wonderful Ángel Palazuelos showcases one-off creations and bridal wear. If designer shopping is an essential item on your holiday agenda then Málaga is most certainly a wise choice.
